Spring Cleaning Tips

1. Declutter First

  • Sort into four piles: Keep, Donate, Sell, Toss.
  • Use the one-year rule: If you haven’t used it in a year, it’s time to let go.

2. Deep Clean Room-by-Room

  • Focus on often-overlooked areas: baseboards, behind furniture, light fixtures, vents.
  • Use natural cleaners like vinegar and baking soda for eco-friendly results.

3. Organise Smarter

  • Use clear storage bins so you can see what’s inside.
  • Label everything for easy access.
  • Rotate seasonal items: put away winter gear and bring out spring/summer essentials.

4. Freshen Up the Air

  • Open windows for circulation.
  • Add indoor plants like peace lilies or snake plants to purify the air.

Sue Roche

Meet Sue Roche

The Styling Project is led by Sue Roche, who founded the business in 2015 after a career in graphic design. Eleven years on she is still the person walking through most of the properties we style, and she personally quotes around 95 per cent of the work we take on.

Sue’s design background gave her a strong grounding in colour, balance and proportion, all of which carry directly into styling a home for sale. Her view is that the rest of it is learnt by doing. After more than 7,500 properties she has a very good sense of what will photograph well, what buyers respond to, and when a room needs less rather than more.
